Deborah Fleming

County Commissioner - District 3

Dr. Deborah Fleming is a native of St. Joseph County and a local dentist for over 25 years. After graduating from Mishawaka High School in 1978, she went to college at the University of Kentucky on a volleyball scholarship where she received both her undergraduate and dental degrees. She then returned home to practice dentistry with her father, Dr. Robert Sriver in Mishawaka.

Dr. Deborah Fleming was caucused in to replace Marsha McClure in December of 2014. Since then, she has worked hard for the citizens of St. Joseph County to make our county government transparent, efficient and accountable to its citizens. As a private business owner, she is bringing the business philosophy to local government by enhancing customer service and financial responsibility. Deb is not afraid to question the status quo and look for ways to improve government processes and standards.

Deb has always had a heart for service and helping others. She has been active in her community as a member of the Junior League of South Bend and the Mishawaka Beta Gamma Chapter of Tri Kappa. She has also been active in her profession as a member of the Indiana Dental Association Council on Governmental Affairs and past president of both the Mishawaka Dental Society and the North Central Dental Society. Deb is not only a member, but also serves on the Mishawaka High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee and the Church Council of Grace United Methodist Church. She expresses her love for volleyball as a local high school volleyball official. Deb also took on the role of St. Joseph County Republican Party Chairman from 2011 until 2014 to begin to lead her community in the right direction.

Dr. Fleming lives in South Bend and is married to Robert Schell. Together they have four children. She is a proud Hoosier and embraces common sense Indiana values.
