Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, IN-02

Jackie Walorski

U.S. Representative - District 2

Jackie Walorski is a native Hoosier, born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. As the representative of Indiana’s Second District, she brings to Congress Hoosier values and common sense.

The daughter of a firefighter and small business owner, Jackie learned the value of public service and hard work at a young age. After graduating from Riley High School, she became the first in her family to graduate from college. She began her career as a crime reporter and later worked as a development director to raise funds for Indiana colleges and universities. Shortly after marrying her husband Dean, a Mishawaka school teacher and band director, Jackie and Dean moved to Romania as missionaries and founded an agency to help provide food and medical supplies to the country’s impoverished children.

After watching the horrific attacks of September 11th and returning home to Indiana, Jackie decided to serve in a different way. In 2004, Jackie was elected to her first of three terms in the Indiana House of Representatives. She rose quickly to leadership, becoming the Assistant Floor Leader for the Republican Caucus. She was a leader for fiscal responsibility, helping to balance Indiana’s budget, lower taxes and eliminate wasteful government spending. Jackie is an advocate for the the unborn, leading the charge to defund Planned Parenthood, and the 2nd Amendment, sponsoring Indiana’s lifetime handgun permit law.

In 2012, Jackie was first elected to the United States House of Representatives. Currently in her second term in Congress, she serves on the House Armed Services, Veterans’ Affairs, and Agriculture committees. She also chairs the House Subcommittee on Nutrition.

Jackie believes that Hoosiers could teach Washington some common sense. Hard-working Hoosier families sit around their kitchen tables, balancing their checkbooks, and make tough financial decisions to plan for the future and it’s time for Washington to do the same. She knows that getting our country’s fiscal house in order, removing burdensome regulations, and stopping government overreach is essential to creating Hoosier jobs. She stands for the sanctity of life and is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Jackie takes seriously her commitment to keep our country safe from dangerous threats both at home and abroad and fights everyday to ensure our veterans receive the very best care possible. Simply, put Jackie listens to the concerns of her district and takes their voice to Congress.
